ABOUT US

Mr G S Kambo Senior Instructor
Mr Kambo started in 1983 under the guise of Imperial Taekwon-Do at Whitefriars School in Wealdstone training under various people; Mr Neill Brown (then 1st Dan) was a key influence in those early stages.  Having started alongside his brother, they trained together up to 3rd Kup blue belt with strong dedication and with support from their father.  When the club moved further away so did the opportunity to train..It was not until 8 years or so later that he found a small club starting up locally under Master Manning VII Dan (then IV Dan).  His keen interest in cricket and tennis had kept him fit, but all of these lacked something which only martial arts could fulfil- a balance of strength, speed, flexibility, inner and outer mental strength, but most importantly to be able to defend one self.  He had his apprehensions of attempting to return into this demanding martial art having been away from it for so long, but on looking back he never regrets that decision.

Who We Are, continued...

His first real milestone was in 1994, having achieved a double degree success by becoming the first Harrow Taekwon-Do black belt and achieving an engineering degree at the well renowned Imperial College.   This thrusted him into the light as a role model for the upcoming students of Harrow TKD, he feels proud in seeing that Harrow TKD has flourished into a school of quality.

Being a regular competitor in all areas, he has always enjoyed the buzz of the tournaments and pushing himself to the limit.  He remembers when he first fought as a black belt in Scotland, Grand Master Choy IX Dan said that he had experienced a ‘Baptism of Fire’, his words were true and wise!

Having been fortunate enough to be training with Master Manning VII Dan- a truly exceptional exponent and instructor of TKD, he has gained a holistic approach to martial arts whilst balancing a young family and professional career in finance.  Having been presented many challenges from all directions, the key has been to ensure a balance of life in conjunction with dedication and of course a guiding hand from the inner spirit.

Qualifying as an instructor in October 2000 under the strict standards required by BUTF, he then continued to assist teaching at Harrow TKD with Master Manning VII Dan. The next important step was to attain the Black Stripes for IV Dan, which was achieved in October 2004.  Alongside his brother Rasmeet S. Kambo III Dan, his instructing was clearly proving successful having been running a satellite school under Harrow TKD. Finally, earlier this year in 2008, the challenge to open up Eastcote Taekwon-Do School was taken.  He now understands the legacy that General Choi Hong Hi IX Dan was trying to achieve.  The enjoyment and fulfilment that teaching brings, not only sharpens and reinforces ones knowledge and skills, but his aim as any instructor is for his students to grow and improve to be best they can be in all areas of their lives.  It becomes a rarity to see instructors still actively competing and his approach has always been to lead by example.

His philosophical approach to life can be described as one great spiritual philosopher said:
‘By conquering your mind you can conquer the world’.

He was recently promoted to the rank of  VI 6th (YUK) Dan (Jan 2014), his humble thanks go to his instructor and friend Master Manning VIII Dan. He greatly thanks the BUTF Executive for their continued support and dedication to the qualities that the BUTF stands for.

BUTF

The British United Taekwon-Do Federation - BUTF - was formed on the 1st of March 1988 to promote and teach pure, unadulterated Taekwon-Do; the Taekwon-Do that the founder
Grandmaster Choi Hong Hi - 9th Dan created.

Taekwon-Do

The head of the federation was Mr. R. M. K. Choy 9th Dan, a genuine Grandmaster with over 40 years 'hands-on' experience of practicing and teaching ITF (the Founder General Choi Hong Hi’s) format of Taekwon-Do. Grandmaster Choy is also the highest ranking Taekwon-Do Instructor in England.  now ably led by Grand Master (Miss) T.Y. Au IX Dan.
Supporting her closely are the members of the Senior Executive,  Master Manning VIII Dan, Master Whitley VII Dan, Master Bryan VII Dan and Master Liu VII Dan each of who have over 30 years experience as Taekwon-Do Instructors.

Quality Guaranteed

THE BUTF prides itself on its core values of fairness and integrity. This means that when you study and compete in the BUTF you can be assured that grades gained or results won are given fairly and squarely on your merits of being a properly trained Taekwon-Do practitioner. These values further ensure that everyone can enjoy Taekwon-Do without fear of prejudice or bias.
All BUTF Instructors are highly trained, fully qualified and certified. The Federation demands the highest possible standards from its Instructors. All BUTF schools are fully licensed and insured and operate within a strict code of conduct.
