Taekwon-Do was 'born' on April 11th 1955, created by General Grandmaster Choi Hong Hi
9th Degree Black Belt.
The British United Taekwon-Do Federation - BUTF - was formed on the 1st of March 1988 to promote and teach pure, unadulterated Taekwon-Do; the Taekwon-Do that the founder
Grandmaster Choi Hong Hi - 9th Dan created.
The head of the federation is Mr. R. M. K. Choy 9th Dan, a genuine Grandmaster with over 40 years 'hands-on' experience of practicing and teaching ITF (the Founder General Choi Hong Hi’s) format of Taekwon-Do. Grandmaster Choy is also the highest ranking Taekwon-Do Instructor in England. Supporting him closely are the members of the Executive, Master (Miss) T.Y. Au VIII Dan, Master L.S. Sangha VII Dan, and Master Manning VII Dan each of who have over 30 years experience as Taekwon-Do Instructors.
THE BUTF prides itself on its core values of fairness and integrity. This means that when you study and compete in the BUTF you can be assured that grades gained or results won are given fairly and squarely on your merits of being a properly trained Taekwon-Do practitioner. These values further ensure that everyone can enjoy Taekwon-Do without fear of prejudice or bias.
All BUTF Instructors are highly trained, fully qualified and certified. The Federation demands the highest possible standards from its Instructors. All BUTF schools are fully licensed and insured and operate within a strict code of conduct.

Every Taekwon-Do Student observes what are called
‘The Tenets’. They are not just ones to be observed in class but ones to live by
in your daily life.
Tenets of Taekwon-Do
Taekwon-Do is a modernised and scientifically developed version of centuries old Korean Martial Art. Hundreds of years ago in Korea, the warrior class of society known as the Hwarang-Do practised a form of weaponless combat known as Taek Kyon and developed a code of conduct to serve as a guideline to compliment their intensive physical training.
